RGS Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the SL-1000 and the SL-1000
i ?The exterior size is the same. 26” high x 8” diameter. However the power of the motors are:
SL-1000: ¾ hp equivalent DC motor. This operator is rated in classes I, II, III, and IV. With gatelength of up to 25’ and weight of 800 lbs.
SL-1000i: 1.2 hp equivalent DC motor. This operator is our Industrial model and rated in classes I,II, III, and IV with gate lengths of 40-45’ and weight of up to 2000 lbs.
How many cycles a day can these operators perform?
All of our operators are rated continuous duty. Many are installed in developments with as many as 300 or more units.
What is the closing speed of the slide operators?
Our operators all comply with the UL325 regulations which state that no operator shall open faster than 1 foot per second. In an industrial use, the speed may be allowed somewhat faster in some locations. This should always be verified for your own liability protection.
What is your rack gear made of and is it strong enough to withstand continuous duty action?
Our rack gear is machined from UHMW nylon composite. It is extremely strong and because we choose to machine instead of mould it, we have the strongest product available. In fact, in over 5 years of use, we have never had to replace a section of rack gear. We take pride in the fact that we do not take short cuts with any of our products. Even our pinion gears are machined from solid blocks of airline quality aluminum.
Where are your operators built?
Again, we do not take the easy way out. Our operators are built right here in the USA. Everything but the motors and controllers are built in our factory in Pensacola, Florida using only the best quality materials. We believe in American made and will not send our products overseas to be built by cheap labor. It may cost more doing it this way, but supporting our country is important to us and we hope it is to you as well.
What kind of warranty do your operators have?
All of our operators come with a full 5 year warranty. The controller and electronics comes with a two year warranty.
You claim your operators are “maintenance free”. Can you explain how that can be?
RGS operators have only 4 moving parts. With so few moving parts it is almost impossible for anything to break down. However, should something go wrong, we have an advanced replacement program. You would simply let us know you are having trouble and we will send a replacement out the same day we get the request. It should take you a maximum of 10-15 minutes to swap them out. You then send the old one back to us. It is that simple. RGS operators are designed to be the most dependable, dealer friendly operator you have ever installed.
